A reminder of the Gold Rush

Bodie Ghost Town: A reminder of the GoldRush (USA)

Deserted streets, abandonedhouses and the wind, walk freely in undisguised openings of windows and doors - so it appears to tourist’s ghost town of Bodie (Bodie Ghost Town), one of America's most famous attractions. It is located in the Sierra Nevada, where at one time was raging so-called "Gold Rush", which appeared due to this settlement.

It all began with the fact that in 1859 in this desert area was found a gold mine. About reserves of gold ore almost immediately increased full-fledged town and the name he was given a simple hunky William Bodie, who became a pioneer of local resources.

In the city, populated mainly by gold diggers, seething life: it works almost, was a railway junction, the local press published, provided high-quality photo services and drinking places there were more than seventy. The greater the number of miners learned of Bodie, the more filled with residents of the city, growing literally by leaps and bounds.

But as you know, where the money is - and there is a crime. The fame of the Body went bad - here every day shots were heard, often committed the robbery and even murder, so this city rightly called the city of sin.

Survived the most crime-city of the Wild West of America short - in 1942 it was officially closed. The reason is simple - the fall in gold prices. The city, which was built specifically to house miners, suddenly empty and lost its original meaning, so keep him alive longer make sense.

Today Bodie ghost town is a historic place where you can wander through the deserted streets and even enter into the desert areas, where they still remain part of the old furniture and household items. A layer of dust on the tops and broken furniture suggestive of the impermanence of life and carry tourists during the gold rush, when the yellow metal is sometimes valued above human lives.
